Here is a nice photo by Shanon of the waxing crescent moon. Yes the students will know what a waxing crescent moon, a first quarter moon, full moon, and a waning Gibbous moon are when the course is over. They will be able to calculate when the moon will rise and set for a particular moon phase, and will also know how the moon affects tides etc.
